My buddy Mike is coming in from Houston tomorrow morning and I've got a fresh bottle waiting to be cracked open. I've drank plenty of it, but I'll let you know how this bottle goes on Monday.

If you like it then try the Matusalem, which is made by the expatriate Cuban family that used to make HC before Castro. I dare ya in a blind taste test to tell the difference.

Which Matusalem...or is there only one kind? I mean 7-year old vs 15-year old, that kind of thing.

I've never seen the Matusalem 7 at the places that I get mine from yet. I will say that for a mixing rum the Matusalem Clasico to me is about as good as it gets and my favorite and preferred sipping rum is the Matusalem Gran Reserva. For me it even edges out the Zacapa Centenario 23 yr old.

Ron Matusalem has been my rum of choice for the last five or six years now.

Here is a little info at Matusalem's Site

Thanks, James. Looks like prices are pretty reasonable at our local liquor giant (Spec's): Clasico is $21, Gran Reserva is $30, 18-year is $35. Gonna have to give it a whirl...
