White Hat Cigars Hirochi Robaina Signature Toro

Smooth oily dark wrapper with the intoxicating aroma of rich dark chocolate, also present in the shaggy foot. A nice firm bunch, clean clip and perfect cold draw. Tonight's beverage is a Lagunitas Imperial Stout, an excellent ale with coffee and cocoa nibs notes, which seems like it will be a perfect match.

Initial notes are heavy on the cocoa and light on the coffee. So far it looks like this one might just live up to the family name. In case you didn't know, Hirochi is the grandson of Don Alejadro Robaina of Cuban tobacco fame. This is a full-body, full-flavor cigar, making the stout ale an obvious choice.

The cigar is burning even and the ash is light grey and solid, although I will be careful to avoid ash lap like I got last night. It dropped at 3/4", so I was right to be careful. So maybe it won't win long ash contests, but the flavors more than make up for that.

After the first third a healthy dose of black pepper is in the retrohale, and while the cocoa and coffee notes remain, a smooth base of leather has emerged. The burn continues to be even with a nice conical burn. The cigar is also very cool and pleasant.

Approaching two thirds, a sweetness has joined the profile while the pepper has settled down some. The burn is still excellent and the ash continues to drop every 3/4 to one inch. The smoke remains cool and pleasant. The cone has flattened out and is now even with the straight burn.

Approaching the final inch the flavors remain fairly consistent although the smoke is heating up a bit. This is a very nice cigar, especially for the full flavor fans. 9/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
