Mc Clelland Dark Star Flake - Good offshore smoking

Just did a couple of bowls. They smoked really well in the mild wind (~5 knots). From what I had read - this flake is difficult to keep lit and I imagine it would be in an enclosed space. So I can believe your statement.

Pretty darn good Phil
I prepared mine by:
- laying a "shingle" on a table top with a piece of good printer paper under it.
- rolling a metal tobacco tin (edge) back and forth over it with a firm pressure. This flattened and separated the shingle into slivers.
- finished rubbing out with fingers to the consistancy I wanted to try.
- left the small batch I created to air for about an hour before loading my pipe.
- only lightly packed the load since my bowl is smaller ID and deep.

Seemed a full flavor to me - like a Virginia with a decent kick but I am still trying to learn the different tobaccos. It is for sure a really moist tobacco so keep that in mind.
I was thinking to cut in some Turkish ribbon next time and I will probably rub out a bit coarser

I think I need a pipe better suited for flakes also

Nuff said.... BUD
