The green color comes from fire curing the wrapper. It's actually the exact same wrapper that's on the natural wrapped cigars, but it was subjected to heat in the curing barn to fix the chloroplasts in the leaf in their natural green state instead of air curing the wrapper slowly and let it turn brown. When I first started in this business in the 60's, other than Cuban Cigars, maybe 95% of everything we sold was candela, today it's the opposite. Personally I hate candela wrapped cigars, but I really can't tell you why.... maybe it's the color !!!!!
