Samuel Gawith St James Flake (Bulk)
I have been aging this tobacco since 3/2011. It is a Virginia and Perique blend. This tobacco was very wet when I first acquired it, and it is still wet, so I dried it out for 30 minutes before smoking. The aroma from the jar is very sweet, lots of sweet fruity aromas like raisins, plums, and figs. Simply awesome.
As for flavor, it is very sweet, slightly peppery, lots of sweet Virginia flavors, with notes of raisins, figs, and plumbs. I am blown away at the fantastic flavors. I noticed the sweet flavors are at their best when smoking this tobacco slow and steady. So sip this tobacco to get the best flavors. It is not a powerful tobacco. It is medium in flavor, and very consistent from beginning to end. I was expecting more earth and pepper, but it is more sweeter then expected. Perhaps aging this tobacco has married the flavors together. Lots of sugar crystals has formed as seen in the photos. Overall it is an outstanding tobacco, on the sweet side. Love smoking this tobacco. Highly recommend.
