Nosy observer: "Kinda cut it crooked."
Me: "Well, when you cut it this way, the wrapper does not unravel, which can happen when you cut a tapered cigar flat." This *has* happened to me. More than once. Also, see if they are using a decent cutter. No matter what method you use, a butter knife dull cutter won't produce a clean cut. Jason, replace the broken Xikar with a Palio. I recently received a free Xikar from Blending Room (I think it was from dropping a business card into a bowl at IPCPR) and have been comparing cut quality between it and a Palio. The main difference is the Xikar "V" motion vs. the traditional guillotine action of the Palio. I tend to use the Palio more often.
