pour over coffee

I've been using a non Chemex pour over coffee maker on Saturdays and I have to say this method makes stunningly good coffee. It just takes too long to fit into the weekday rushing to get to work schedule

I use a French press and a bodum pour over. I prefer the press, but pour over makes seriously good coffee.

Technique is important. Wet the grounds, wait for 30 seconds as it blooms. Pour slowly, counter clockwise. Yummm

They do make a good cup of coffee. The grounds don't sit on it, it processes quickly and cleanly, you choose your water temps.

It's hard to clean. The wooden handle is crap. Get a bottle brush for it. Filters are kind of costly.

As the man said, be careful about pouring too quickly.

essentially a glass carafe on which you set a filter and you pour hot water on the grounds, Chemex is the most famous brand of them, there are many others these days.

Been using Melitta for hundreds of years. Grind my own. Blend my own. Great coffee.

Pics?

I was using a large French Press that I got at World Market back in the spring. Then I got into some coffee that was fine ground, and I had to stop because it was seeping through.

The other thing was that I was using about five scoops of grounds for about 3+ cups of coffee out of the press.

I've gone back to my four cup drip because it's fast and easy at 0545 hrs on work days.
