Entrapment
latest offering from Diageo's Orphan Barrel brand... a 25 year old Canadian from Crown Royal's Gimli distillery. No rye, so not a typical Canadian whiskey. At the price it may be a while before I open the bottle. Supposed to be much like a mature Scottish grain whiskey

97% corn and 3% barley mashbill. Atypical indeed. I think I'll pass.
As a side-note, some bottles of Crown Royal from way back (I have one dated 1958) actually stipulated that they were blends of whiskies between 10 and 30 years of age. And the constituent whiskies were sourced from multiple distilling sites then still operational during the Seagram era (pre-Gimli). Those times are, alas, long gone.

Nice. These days, I find that the only way to get anything remotely approaching the quality of flavour of some of those older CRs is to opt for the Limited Edition or Special Reserve bottlings of CR.
