Tatuaje Fausto Robusto
I tried my first Fausto this weekend, courtesy of ronin. This will be a fairly short review, because I just don't have a lot to say about this cigar.
Right out of the gate, one of my pet peeve alarms went off: though called a "robusto," this sucker had a 54 ring gauge. Sorry, that's not a robusto. The cigar was, however, beautifully constructed, its dark Habano Ecuador wrapper set off nicely by an understated red and black band. Draw was a little on the loose side, not surprising for a jawbreaker. From the get-go, this cigar was atypical for a Tatuaje: no pepper, monochromatic, blow-off-your-head ligero. It really didn't change much as the smoke progressed. I've been smoking - and loving - Tats since around 2006. I have a world of respect for Pete Johnson and am an unabashed fan of his work. It pains me to say that this is the first Tatuaje I've smoked that really didn't do anything for me. (By way of contrast, the La Casita Criolla corona that I smoked the following morning was off da hook! Pete has another winner there...)
