Perdomo ESV 1991 Phantom Maduro
A very nice smoke. I picked up a couple of these in a sampler I got from an online cigar site. Dark maduro wrapper with minimal veins and nice prelight aroma. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Smooth draw. Even burn without the need for corrections or relights. Gray-white ash. Started with pepper and a toasted sweet cedar flavor. The first third was a medley of floral notes, earth, and a hint of vanilla. In the middle third, the earth became slightly more prominent and the sweetness of the maduro wrapper was noticeable. The last third was introduced an herbal quality that was very enjoyable. All in all, this 1 hour smoke was complex, medium-bodied, and suprisingly good for a Perdomo - it very well may be my favorite Perdomo to date. Would buy more.
