Thought I'd smoke something I haven't tried yet, so this week I bought an Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend perfecto (5x52). I like the Cameroon wrappers so was expecting the tinge of sweetness that the cameroons generally bring to the table. The Indian Tabac was somewhat disappointing in that for the first half of the cigar there was very little flavor and very little smoke. About half way down the cigar it began to provide a little character, but not nearly the flavor that I had expected from a very nicely constructed smoke. The Tabac Legend never did provide me with the experience I was expecting. Probably won't buy any more of these. Have any of you had similar experieces with this cigar?

I have had great experiences with the Cameroon Legends. Although they aren't the cigar to smoke when you want pronounced cameroon flavor, they are an excellent blend that even those that don't care for cameroon cigars on a regular basis will enjoy. If you would like a cigar that has the most pronounced cameroon flavor with nothing else in the way try a La Aurora Preferido series. For an inexpensive pronounce cameroon flavor try the Don Tomas cameroon series perfectos. Though they are hit and miss they usually have good flavors.

I agree with Dave on the Cameroon Legends: I've found them to be quiet tastey, but never picked up the sweet cameroon flavor. More creamy and kind of tangy.
I've never tried a Preferido (the price always scares me away). Maybe I'll have to spring for one! |

Funny, I agree with Stone. I'm not a big Cameroon fan to begin with, so that could have been some of the problem. I remember them being touted as "full-flavoured/bodied"
but found them rather uninteresting. |

My experience was negative also. The very thin Cami wrapper came apart on me. Managed to smoke it however but wasn't very impressed.

I've smoked a few of the Perfecto Grandes.
At first they were a little harsh but seem to have settled down with about 6 to 8 months of sleep. I find the draw to be inconsistent but many times too tight. The wrapper is thin and delicate so I've discovered I need to let the cigar sit out a while if it's too cold before lighting up. Although I think they are a beautiful looking smoke, I tend to like other Cameroons better. |
