Aged Pipe Tobacco
Most of my pipe tobacco is from 2010, with a some going as far back as 2006. Over the coming weeks, I will be smoking aged tobacco that has at least 5 years age on it.
I am not sure if pipe tobacco ages in similar ways as cigars since pipe tobacco tends to have flavoring or toppings added to it. I would think this would affect the flavor over time differently then cigar tobacco that has no flavorings or toppings added to the tobacco. Pipe tobaccos are usually blends of different tobaccos pressed together similar to cigars. I would think the flavors of pipe tobacco will blend together over time similar to cigars, and will take on a whole new flavor profile with age. Those of you who have experience with smoking aged pipe tobacco, is there improvement in the flavors with aged pipe tobacco over fresh pipe tobacco?
