My favorite Scotch is the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition. It's finished in Pedro Ximenes sherry casks.

An alternative 'recipe'...

One or two drops (and I mean tiny 'eye-dropper' drops) of a quality Pedro Ximénez Sherry in the bottom of your whisky glass, topped up with a dram of Lagavulin 16 Year Old (which is generally more readily available than the Distillers Edition bottling).

My favourite choice of Sherry is Gonzalez Byass Noe, owing to its extended cask ageing and flavour.

The result comes awfully close to replicating the taste and texture of Lagavulin Distillers Edition. Plus, you can then enjoy some of the Sherry on its own. (It's deadly on top of French vanilla ice cream.)
