I turn Silvia on every day around 3:00 pm
...and turn her off before midnite.
I tell you, guys, if any one of you is considerin' an espresso machine, I recommend the Rancilio Silvia. Having lived with her for a couple of months now, she does the job nicely, although she has taken a bit of getting used when it comes to frothing milk because of her lively steam pressure. She's totally manual and plain-vanilla, but built like a brick Johnny-house. I consider her the Zippo lighter of espresso machines.
