Cienfuegos robusto
Frank Santos generously gifted a couple of us with some cigars from the Puros Indios/Cuba Aliados stable to let us try them out and review Rolando Reyes Sr's product. I thank him and provide this review of the Cienfuegos robusto he provided.
Upon first look the Cienfuegos robusto was a bit mottled, natural tan wrapped robusto with a nicely done cap. Appearance was a bit rough otherwise. Pre light draw was a bit loose, but not enough to affect the flavor or otherwise get the cigar too hot. This cigar has a spicy undertone, just a little bit on the tongue, all the way through the cigar with straightforward tobacco flavor. Not really complex, a mild-med. to medium bodied cigar with a slightly understated flavor. Lots of smoke, burn was crooked, but I did not have to touch up the cigar, it mostly corrected itself. Construction seemed good, the cigar did not get spongy or soft as smoked. Ash was solid, and held a decent 3/4 inch at a time. Again, the flavor was the same throughout the cigar but was mostly pleasant to me. The finish was not heavy, nor did it linger long. Appearance - 8 of 10 Draw - 8 of 10 Flavor - 8 of 10 Construction - 8.5 of 10 Finish - 9 of 10 Final Tally - 83 Overall a good, straightforward cigar, but nothing spectacular. |
