Mojito & Mint Julip time of year

Label from Havana Club Blanco:

1 ounce of HC
1 ounce lime juice
a spoon of sugar
4 ounces club soda
a few mint leaves
crushed ice

Near as I can tell. Between the Blanco and 3 yr. old, the version on the label is in french, english, and spanish, and at least one version seems to mention lemon, not lime. It is not a fancy sounding recipe. Blanco makes a GREAT hot-afternoon-sitting-on-the-beach drink.......but you tend to drink them like a football player at 2-a-days in the heat in the South drinking Gatoraide.......so have a enough.......a pitcher-full.......a LARGE pitcher. The 7 is a darker rum, and the drink is not as pretty, or clean-looking, but, being heavier, it makes a GREAT after dinner drink.

But Ferdelance might bitch-slap you for mixing the 7 yr. old.

The biggest problem with mojitos, especially when you have a good rum, is that you run out of rum before you run out of anything else. Try buying twice as much as you think you will need--like buying your first humidor, it always ends up being too small. Besides, you'll drink the left over rum eventually anyway if any is left.
