Jeff, the strongest flake tobacco I have come across is the Gawith, Hoggarth Dark Flake Unscented. It is a Burley and Virginia blend. Because they process their flake tobaccos using the same machinesas the scented tobaccos, you might get a bit of Lakeland essence even thougrh it is supposed to be unscented. But it is usually barely detectable.
Not sweet at all. It is so strong in flavor you really have to smoke it slow. Smoke it too fast and it becomes very hard in the palate. Smoke it slow, flavors are great. Also smoking it slow keeps your pipe from getting hot. Nicotine hit is strong. I smok this kind of tobacco in small billiards. If I use a bigger pipe, I fill half bowl. The GH Happy Brown Bogie Twist tobacco is very similar in flavor to the Dark Flake, but I don't detect any Lakeland essence in the flavor.
