Regrigerator conversion?

I'm considering using a converted fridge for my long term storage. I'm looking for somthing that is +10cuft. From what I've read the best thing to do would be to try and find a model that is not "frost free" from those that have eperience is this true? Is it not advisable at all to get one that is frost free? I do intend to use the cooling mechanism, with a remote thermostate (a johnson controls model). Any help is apreciated
