For Pipes let me say for starters I really would not reccomend A cob. Alot of people do, but I have seen many people suck tobbaco through a cob which generally has no filter but a bore big enough to allow hot bits to be sucked right through to your throat.Choose a low priced briar such as A aldo Venali. 30.00 to 50.00 each with good smoking qualities. Generally if the tobacco wont stay lit you can rule out the pipe being the cause. Make sure you pack the tobacco in stages loosely adding tobacco and then compressing once full till the tobacco has a springy fill. 2 to three losse fills generally will give you a full pipe. Char the top once Tamp it down and once again light the tobacco and you should be well on your way to enjoyment. Puff Slowly . And dont get discouraged should you need to relight or pass a pipe cleaner into the stem during the smoke to clean out some Goo. Depending on what and how you smoke you may find some biproduct of tobacco and saliva in your stem that you will want to clean out from time to time for full enjoyment
