Perique Cigars are made by Big River Trading Co., New Orleans, LA. These cigars have perique tobacco with Dominican tobaccos covered with an Equadorian wrapper. I received 2 samples from the company which makes their cigars in Santiago at tabacalera Pinar del Rio.
The cigar is a good looking toro 6X54. Construction is very good. Firm but not hard, although very veiny Indonesian wrapper. Lighting the cigar produced a good volume of smoke, slight spice in taste and very easy draw. This cigar burned evenly throughout the smoke which lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes. The light grey ash was solid and held on for over 1 1/2 inches before I tapped it off. Strength was medium and taste was slightly spicey and one dimentional. The aroma has a slight nutty hint. Although this was a decent average cigar, I was expecting something special in taste and aroma since it was made with perique tobacco. It fell short of my expectations. I could get along without ever buying this one. I'll score it 2 thumbs up. SSJ...I'm good at what I do. What is it that I do again?!!!
