Tampa Roasters

I have been meaning to post this information for awhile, maybe everyone knows about it, maybe not.

Tampa has a large group of roasters mainly catering to the Cuban/Latin set. I personally don't roast beans, currently can't find the time, but I do enjoy some of the coffees roasted locally. A couple of my favorites are Cafe Naviera and Cafe Caracolillo both from different roasters. One of the reasons that I mention this is that one of the roasters (the first link) also sells bulk beans, both green and roasted. Also numerous cafes in the Ybor city area use both roasters for their Cafe' con leche.

Please note that I am not affiliated with either roaster nor know anyone who works at either place, I am just pass on information that I have gathered over the years.

I've used Cafe Caracolillo for roasted beans, Tarrazu and Sumatra Mandheling. Their coffees are good but not great. Their prices are very good and you get full pounds.

I usually have a couple of bags of Cafe Naviera around at all times. The owner of the Silver Ring in Ybor used it to make his cafe' con leche, I've been drinking it since.

Too bad the Silver Ring isn't around any more, I loved stopping for a cuban toast and a large cup of cafe' con leche in the mornings.
