Trying new things - the young Pappy

Saw them on the shelf. Had to try them.

The 10yo kicked all kinds of ass. The 12 was too bright and unfocused. The 10 was ambrosia. The Weller 12 couldn't hold a candle to either.

Yikes! How much was that? I see them listed here for $300+ per shot!

$30 for the 10yo, $35 for the 12.

The elders were considerably more. Considerably. But under $100 even for the 23. I will return!

I stacked them against the Parker's Heritage Collection 13 ($18) Weller 12 ($14) and the Jefferson's Very Old Batch Very Small Batch ($12). No contest.

Damn. I'd belly up for doubles of that myself. Ever since Justified popularized Pappy, it's just been stratospherically expensive.

I HAD NO IDEA!
I'm sitting on 3 bottles of this:

William Larue Weller

This is a big, syrupy, spicy, nearly-12-year-old bottle of cask strength Pappy Van Winkle. We won’t repeat our warnings about higher prices and scarce supplies. Just keep an eye out.

Beautiful hotel. Stayed in a cabana there a few years ago.

That's cheap compared to what I see here. The older expressions of Pappy are going for $3000 per bottle on the secondary market.
