My oldest daughter is lobbying us hard to get piano lessons, I might just do it with her.
When my daughters were taking piano lessons both my wife and I took lessons too for about a year. I had played guitar and sax in my youth and the language of music came back quickly and easily. She had never learned to read music, or to HEAR the language of music, and struggled. In any case I had a blast, even though I never became a piano player.

As for your kids wanting lessons I say go for it! So many benefits in other areas of their lives from that exposure. Math skills go up, communication/language skills improve, spatial reasoning gets easier and best of all, given a good teacher, they learn to truly express themselves.
