Dark Shark Torpedo
7.0 x 52

Price: $54.50/box 20
(Plus free t-shirt)
Only available at Cigars Intl as far as I know

Wrapper: Sumatra
Binder : Unknown
Filler : Dominican and Nicaraguan

Well, I lit this 7" long Torp fully expecting to give up on it with about 6-3/4" left on it. An obvious leftover from the boom (noted by the stupid cartoon shark on the box and label), it has a wrapper as black as any Onxy Reserve and looks considerably like a larger version of the Onyx Reserve Mini-Beli.

Looks is as far as it goes though. First the good things about the cigar. Mostly well made, there were no dicerable hard/soft spots, although there was some serious veining on the wrapper. The wrapper has a slightly oily feel to it, the cigar cut cleanly, had an easy pre-light draw, and burned evenly for the duration that I smoked it.

Flavor in this cigar could best be described at bland. A Dominican Filler with, "A good helping of Ligero", the Ligero they used was either so well aged it mellowed out considerably, or it didn't exist at all. Was it smokable... Yes it was. There was nothing horendous or acrid in the taste, just boring. The Deep dark maduro wrapper provided no flavor to the cigar. I am having a hard time believing that these wrappers aren't dyed. Sumatra Wrappers of unknown origin, they provided no sweetness, spice, anything.

Appearance 17/20
Construction 18/20
Flavor 20/50
Overall 5/10

Total: 60/100 - Goes into the pile of cigars that don't quite make the hideous dog rocket list, but have no real purpose in the world were good cigars are available cheap. Even at the $2.75/piece price range. You can have them... 'Cause I don't want them.

Those who are willing to give up freedom for security deserve neither
