Done with Gurkha
Ok, so I've smoked my share of these. The Regent and the G3 are actually pretty good. I won't even discuss the "overpriced" issue. In keeping with the Gurkha tradition of way over-blowing the hype on a particular cigar; the Master's Select Perfectos, Beauty, Beast, and Genghis Khan, all fell woefully short on my expectations. All of these had a rather flat papery taste that was totally one-dimensional, bland, and slightly gross. Quite unfortunately for me, I had a box of the Master's Select No. 1. In my disgust today, I removed them from my main humidor-which contains many higher-quality innocent cigars-and threw them in a desktop with a Boveda pack. They can stay there til the end of time as far as I'm concerned, they could only get better (if that's even possible).
That being said, I am absolutly finished with Gurkha, and bitterly so. K. Hansotia, whoever the hell he is (k. hovnanian's cousin?) deserves respect as a master of several facets of marketing and business management. I am now synically convinced that his business venture in Gurkha cigars has absolutly nothing to do with the love of cigars or the desire to produce a quality product; but in fact, is solely concerned with gross, flatulent capitalism. K.H., I'll see you in hell.
