Is variety the spice of life when it comes to cigars?
I used to think so. I felt that smoking a large variety of cigars was far better than smoking a limited number of cigars. I often thought about John Kennedy hoarding boxes of his favorite Cuban cigar. I used to think that Hennedy would get sick of just that one cigar.
But, now that I have been smoking for over 10 years, and my tastes have refined, matured and settled, I am finding that my smoking pleasure is increased by sticking with old favorites, rather than smoking a variety. It got me to thinking whether variety is always a good thing. Especially for the seasoned smoker. Most of use limit our food and drink choices. We find what we like and stick with it. Why should it be any different with a cigar? I've come to the conclusion that rather than trying to fill my cabinet humidor with a large variety of cigars, I should be filling it with cigars I know I love. Not that I won't try something new occasionally, but my days of buying boxes and bundles of unknown cigars are over. I'm sticking with my favorites. Which will not only keep me stocked with cigars I love, but will also allow for better aging of cigars.
