Question about filling a Kirsten pipe...
I just bought a Kirsten on eBay and here's what they suggest to do when filling the bowl for smoking...
"Slightly moisten the interior of the imported Mediterranean briar bowl, and pour in as much tobacco as the bowl will hold in one charge. Compress the charge as tightly as possible with the thumb, forcing tobacco against the wall of the bowl. The bowl will become uniformly carbonized if, during your first smoke, you smoke slowly and do not let the fire go out until all the tobacco is burned." I have always used the three-layer method. Anyone have a Kirsten who fills it like this? What's the reasoning? |
