Stand up ye aficiandos, I need a solid coffee maker. I am done with cheap pots and carafes. Is there any consenus on a good coffee maker for someone who does not want anything extravagant other than a decent 12-14 cup pot of coffee?

how much do you want to spend? Do you want to brew or will you french press?

melitta and cuisinart have decent value brewers. or think a good water heater and a bodum.

I have a Hamilton Beach Brew Station and love it.

Several friends and relatives saw mine and how well it works and bought one too.

No carafe and super easy to clean.

Bunn makes good coffee makers.

For a good value in a drip maker it's hard to beat a Melitta IMO.

For easy, inexpensive (almost) espresso a moka pot is about as good as it gets.

I've used a Melitta for years...brown filter, hot water, freshly ground coffee= Great way to start day.

I have learned that I dislike carafe's. I want to preset it at night and wake up to hot coffee. I also need a 12-14 cup maker and I just want it hot. I like the reviews of the Melitta. The technivorm is simply awesome but a bit expensive.
