Are cigars becoming chips, ice cream, juice etc?

I've noticed lately that cigars seem to be going the way of potato chips, ice cream and juice. The new cigars coming out are more expensive but there are less in the box. It seems they all come now in boxes of 10, 15, and 18. What is the deal? It just seems odd to me and a little suspicious.

I see where the makers claim the tobacco is special and rare, but I think that most of that is hype to sell the cigars and get away from producing a full box.
What say ye?
