Daily Smokes Mini Reviews 2018
Hi folks. I post on the "Today's Smokes" thread frequently and in addition to the cigar I smoked I usually add a couple lines about how I feel about the cigar. So the wheels got turning a bit and I thought it might be nice to post daily smokes with a light review. Maybe a little about the cigar, how it tasted and whether you liked it or not. Put some good information out there for our fellow cigar smokers.
Here's my example: This morning I smoked a Sacra Folium Golden Ratio Toro. It had a good looking light shade wrapper, was firm and well constructed and was complex and tasty. I'd say it's a medium body smoke. I liked it a lot! Word it any way you want. Longer or shorter is fine. Imbue it with your own character. |

I like it, Tim!
I'll have to smoke something and post it! Open to everyone, just a line or two about your recent smoking experience. Just a few words Yeah or Nay, size and stuff like that. Cheers!

Cro-Magnum Intemperance - Good looking cigar, but I found it a little harsh. Needs some aging time.
El Gueguense The Wise Man - Very nice med-full cigar. Smooth and enjoyable. |

Sacra Folium? I've not heard of this.
This idea is VERY CWish. Of course, if we have questions or comments, a separate thread would then be in order. I'd like to see this, as well.

Another of my grab bag smokes. I checked them out at Small Batch. Expensive, but maybe worth it.
Today the weather is pretty iffy. Rain, wind and high humidity. I pulled out a Drew Estate Nica Rustica Toro. It's a dark, fairly full bodied cigar. When they are good I like them. This one had a poor draw. Even after using the Perfect Draw tool I had a hard time getting a decent amount of smoke. There were hard spots in the cigar that turned into little briquettes. I managed okay, but the smoke was less than satisfying. After smoking 6 or 7 of these now I'm finding them a bit inconsistent. |

Warped El Oso Miami Corona. I like this cigar! Well made with a nice rich flavor. Lots of smoke with a super tight ash. Recommended!

This morning I smoked an Alec Bradley Tempus Churchill. This is the second one of these I've smoked. This is a good example for the taste vs. construction debate.
The appearance is smooth, dark and oily. It looks like a big chocolate bomb. But it doesn't quite deliver in the flavor department. It lacks a quality I can only describe as...richness. The burn was great with lots of smoke. It's a well put together cigar. Excellent in fact. The taste just doesn't do it for me. If I have more in another grab bag I'll smoke them. I'm not saying they are bad. I just don't want to buy any. |

Windy day on the patio so I pulled out another Drew Estate's Nica Rustica Toro. The draw was good with lots of smoke. The burn was straight and the ash was firm. The flavor was pretty good. Hard to believe that this cigar probably came from the same box as the previous one.

Hey Tim, Glad your reviewing. And we need more brothers doing reviews. I know they have bombs for reviewers. I'll be back with reviews now that my daughter is somewhat done with graduation and college enrollment. BUT I smoked the Villiger San’Doro Maduro Toroand and was going to put a longer review in, the only problem was 77% humility and 96 degrees. Wouldn't be a fair review so a small perspective.
Nice light chocolate wrapper, some big veins running with the wrap, good cap, pre. light had tobacco, leather, and wood. Same through the 1st and 2nd thirds of the smoke. Good burn a little flaky ash but solid . The last 3rd changed but not much but added a little spice and chocolate. Medium strength. Would I smoke again: yes I will and post a review I just think the heat and humidity was more to blame then the smoke. 3.5 out of 5 (pending) |
