Cigar smoking is very much a visual pleasure
I think we all know that cigar smoking is a pleasure to all of our senses - touch, taste, sight, smell, and even our ears. Of those senses, I think hearing is the least important. I smoked cigars both before and after losing my hearing, and I have not found my enjoyment to have changed in the slightest.
I can certainly see how touch, taste, and smell would all be involved. But what about sight? I was amazed when I closed my eyes and smoked a cigar. It was a night and day difference. Without being able to see the smoke, a huge part, and I mean HUGE part, of the enjoyment disappeared. I was amazed at how much watching the smoke contributed to my enjoyment. This revelation helped explain to me why I don't enjoy cigars as much when I smoke outside on a windy day. When I do, the smoke just blows away. But when it's calm out, or I am smoking in the man cave, I get to enjoy watching the smoke as it leaves my mouth and rises upwards. It is very soothing and, at least to me, an intricate part of cigar smoking. Anyone else feel this way or notice this?
