Looking for a white wine for summer

I know this is very subjective and open ended...

I am looking for something crisp , not real sweet !!

During the winter I drink Rioja's from Spain...

Any suggestions ....

Woodford Reserve makes good sauvs and Pinot grigios for a very reasonable price. You can buy it already chilled most places.

Both inexpensive. Both versatile and tasty!

Bogle makes a very lovely white -- a gentle tang with just the hint of butterfly wings and pastrami

problem is wine is not distributed in a logical manor except for the mega brands

try trader joes if the ones near you sell wone

look for their Spanish whites,,,, they have should have a variety of them

and the million dollar question, is there a white wine you like? what flavors has it? Oak (vanilla)? Citrus? Flowers? Honey? Peach? Apple? Honeydew? Hazelnuts? Stone/gravel/granite?

I find a lot of the mega winery Sauvignon blancs to be almost sour, and a lot of the mega winery pinot grigio to be watery. That is sad as they can be excellent wines.

Oh and at trader joe don't start with Charles Shaw. There is a reason two buck chuck can be so cheap.

TJ's should have a Spanish white Lagranja which is a crisp refreshing Verdejo viure. They should also have a Txakolina from the Basque region... young sometimes a little fizzy, very fresh, (and to impress people the TX is pronounced like a CH). They also probably have a vinho verde (literally green wine) from Portugal, again bright fresh and refreshing.

Another thought is rose....

TJ's also has some good white from France but they also have some crap from France.... you might look at Chablis which can be mineral driven (which is a good thing) and can go well with seafood or just by itself.

And if you find a bottle of Castillo Ygay 1986 buy it.... only 100 point wine to score that twice from the same vintage (it was released twice)…. perhaps the best wine I have ever sared

Thanks for the suggestions....

I will look at Kroger tomorrow , between the two of them I might be able to locate something ...

The two krog's are vastly different even though they are only 3 miles apart....

Dan

Grtrx , closest TJ is about an hour away ... next time I go to Columbus i will stop in ...

My wife introduced me to some proseco, it’s great during summer on the boat or at the pool, it’s refreshing, not sweet, and delicate and bubbly enough to quench your thirst.

it is in plentiful supply and there is a lot of good Proseco at good prices. Definitely a good back porch wine.
