Goose Bone Robusto

John Giese, the owner of the Montecristo Lounge in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, decided last year to resurrect the Goose Bone brand of cigars. He was gracious enough to give me a sample of his cigars at IPCPR16.

Medium Colorado shade wrapper with distinct cocoa aromas from both wrapper and foot. Firm bunch with an easy draw. Pairing with a Sky Valley Ginger Brew.

Initial draws are slightly bitey, but with a good base of somewhat nutty tobacco notes. The ash is solid and is almost white.

At 1/3 some pepper notes appear in the retrohale. Coffee notes are present on the tongue; this is a great medium body cigar. The ash remains solid enough that I am going to see just how long I can get it.

The cocoa notes I picked up from the wrapper and foot have yet to manifest; regardless this is a very pleasant smooth smoke. The ash did drop at about half way, but still one of the best I have experienced in a while.

The smoke remains cool and plentiful at 2/3 with pleasant pepper in the retrohale and deep rich flavors on the tongue. I vcut this one and it appears to help the smoke stay cool.

A quick word about the Sky Valley Ginger Brew; this is perhaps the best Ginger Beer I have found to date.

The flavors are holding their own against the ginger beer, which usually is not the case. An excellent afternoon cigar. Put it down at one inch to avoid finger burn, but that qualifies as a nubber in my book. A very solid medium cigar that earns 8.5/10 on my scale. Joe Bob says check it out.
