hydrating your beads

Hi all, I am wondering how you wet your beads,

I thought I was being clever and now realize I may not be doing my cigars any favors. I kept my little green foam thing in my humidor. I figured it would be easier just to wet that and let the beads take care of the consistency but the problem is the beads take a day or 2 until they soak up that extra moisture that the foam gives off so quickly, so for about 2 days I get humidity reading of 70 or 75 until the beads soak it up and turn more clear and then I get a 65. I didn`t want to add water to the beads cuz I didnt want them to crack, what do you all do,

thx a bunch
