Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye

Straight off the first pours from a bottle, this whiskey seemed perhaps a tad lacking in complexity. With that slightly negative comment out of the way, though, I'd have to say that it's an absolutely delicious rye!

As always, some further investigation is definitely needed.

May have to try that if my store carries it.

I think that we have it here. would be willing to look at it.

Doug, have you ever had JD sinatra? $200? totally underwhelming to me. Brother in law bought a bottle to celebrate his retirement.

original proof JD is still JD

I have some bad memories of the ex and her dad killing a bottle of Gentleman Jack then getting into my Hirsch. One is replaceable, the other is not.

No Brian... Never chomped on that particular lure. When I lay down any serious amount of change for a spirit, I tend to focus on high-proof or cask strength releases... And then only on rare occasions.

I like listening to Sinatra, but darned if I'll spend that sort of money to 'toast' the man.

Had two more pours of the JD SB Rye this evening. It's totally different from the JD SB Tennessee Whiskey. The 70% rye mashbill makes for a very distinctive flavour delivery. Lovely mouth-feel to this one.

I found a bottle of JD rye, not single barrel. It's very smooth for a JD product, but not nearly as good as what you got. Kind of disappointed actually.

Well, that bottle's 'history'. May consider getting another.
