It's not the Latakia, it's the Virginia that gives me mouth bite. I can smoke bowl after bowl of your Latakia heavy blend no problem.

Yeah, I carry two or three pipes with me when I'm going to smoke that. I learned the hard way that you have to let your pipe cool down before smoking another bowl...

I let Virginia heavy tobaccos dry out more. This seems to help keep tongue bite to a minimum, well for me it works. Most Virginia based tobaccos especially Flake tobaccos tend to be wet thus creating a lot of hot steam when smoked. I believe this causes some tongue bite issues.

Tonight it is GLP Abingdon, last night it was GLP Caravan. Both very good.

Sampled Abington, Odyssey, and Mississippi Mud today and glad I did it in that order. The Abingdon seems to me a standard English, very similar to Peter Stokkebye English Luxury, a good mild-medium smoke. The Odyssey is more an English/Balkan and is much fuller, solid medium. The Missippi Mud is a full dark tobacco, definitely my style, tons of flavor from start to finish.

Yes

The SPC Vashon Island is similar but milder. The black Cavendish Virginias and burleys are well blended.

Tonight I smoked Escudo Navy Deluxe in my old Barling Sovereign Canadian billiard.


OOPS, my bad. I was thinking of SPC Mississippi River which is totally different than C&D Mississippi Mud!
