Thinking of getting a manual meat grinder
I am thinking of getting a manual meat grinder for a few reasons , it will cost about 50% for me to grind it vs price of pre-ground meat , I can control what cuts go into it and I do not have room to store an electric grinder.
I do have a Kitchenaid stand mixer , but , the grinding attachment seems to be hit or miss , two people I know have them , one loves it , other got rid of it... I am only talking about grinding maybe several pounds at a time nothing high volume. So , does anyone have any recommendations? And/or a grinder you no longer use/need that you would like to sell.. Thoughts ? Dan |

I've been using the KA grinder for 20 years and even with a small crack in the plastic casing, it's still operating. If you are going to buy a standalone, shop Northern Tool and ignore any model with plastic gears.
Imo, I'd spend the $40 on the KA and only look at another if it doesn't serve your needs. FWIW, the sausage stuffer is worse than useless.

By KA you mean the attachment to the kitchen aid stand mixer?

my mom has a cast metal manual grinder, made in Gemmany - pre-WWII (maybe pre WWI) that is amazing. I am sure she inherited it. It is very similar to the one Julia Child used in one of her early TV shows.
it looks a lot like the one in this picture https://www.etsy.com/listing/2654674...yABEgK6nPD_BwE I do see these at antique stores, but they rarely have the different blades. Edit: Look what Amazon has! https://smile.amazon.com/Grinder-Tab...+grinder&psc=1

I have one similar to that that I inherited from my dad that was my grandmother’s. Dad was a butcher his whole life which I’m sure is why he wound up with it.
There is a place called Lehman’s that carries all kinds of stuff to live life the old fashioned way (I think it is Amish) that I bet carries these as well. It is online, check it out as well.

It'll wear your arm out, but it is a viable option. My stuffer wears mine out, but I'm done with 5-10 lbs of sausage in less than 10 minutes.
