Review: GL Pease Telegraph Hill

Telegraph Hill is one of Greg Pease's latest Fog City creations. Greg is mainly known for his many English and Balkan styles, but lately he has been trying his hand at Virginia blends.

The tobacco is a mixture of chopped, ribbon-cut leaf. Mostly medium brown in color there are also light tan pieces as well as telltale chunks of black Perique. I've only been smoking this a few weeks now, but have enjoyed it so much that I already have a pound put away for aging.

The flavors are the typical tart and sweet you get from quality Virginias and accompanying this is a tempered jalapeno spiciness from the Louisiana Perique. Even though this tobacco comes out of the tin on the dry side (as do almost all C&D tinned tobaccos), there is still a slight tendancy to bite if you smoke this too fast. I do believe this will fade though as the tobacco is aged. It should be a real treat in 1-2 years ... but it's still a pretty good blend now.
