I experienced my Jim Beam 'baptism' many eons ago when my brother would bring back the Green Label from the States. I suppose that represented my very first exposure to Bourbon.

I find Jim Beam Black, at its price point, to be one of the more complex (and under-rated) Bourbons on the market. This is the sort of pour that, in a pinch, will please both novice and seasoned American whiskey drinkers. Knob Creek is, of course, an established classic. And I quite like Booker's for its raisined, high-proof assault on the senses.

For the money, Jim Beam is unbeatable. Also try Heaven Hill. At $10.99 it's a steal.

regular jim beam doesn't do it but Jim Beam Black is sort of standard that I compare other bourbons to. Like it a lot. Great value.

I like the Jim Beam Black Label well enough....a hell of a lot better than Jack Black IMO.

Like Kim Kardashian compares to Barbara Walters. Beam Black is vibrant, sexy and tasty while EWB is old, bitter and awful on the tongue.

That's quite a difference...

OK, here's the deal. I have a bottle of Jim Beam, regular version, but it's been in my dad's possession since the 80s or early 90s, I think. Whoever wants it, post here. Only caveat is I'd like for it to be someone who has experience with Jim Beam and can tell us if there is any difference between today's Jim Beam and one from 10-15 years ago.
