Pink Floyd Immersion box sets
How much Pink Floyd does one really need?
http://www.whypinkfloyd.com/remaster...facebook_video There's the discovery issues of each album...completely remastered, and included booklets and lyrics. They will sell for about $15 each. Or you can buy the Discovery Box set (all their albums) for $214.00 Or... The Experience versions (about $25 per CD)....Expanded digipak format.. Or The Immersion box set...one album, with DVDs, and several CDs...costing about $128.00. I like Pink Floyd, a big fan. I have several, but not all of their CDs...and they were the latest up till now, remasters. Good enough for me. But hey, if other's won't to pony up for the more complete experience...I say go for it.

I couldn't make it through Dark Side of the Moon when my daughter wanted to hear it - she couldn't either.
Will add Wish You Were Here has always been my favorite, though. Maybe you think we outgrew them? Last edited by alfa; 08-03-2011 at 02:14 PM. |

I still like the Dark Side of the Moon.
It's not something I listen on to on a daily basis...but I still enjoy it. That said, I can't' see spending the bucks on the immersion sets. Just not worth it to me.

I can't imagine paying that much for that set, but there are a lot of young people with the disposable income to moake it profitable.
When I was a teenager, I thought PF was profound. I listened to DSOTM last year and thought it was thoroughly self-indugent and self-absorbed crap. Considering The Wall damn near drove me to suicide in my late teens, I was gratified that I had finally grown up and survived my youth.

I like Pink Floyd. I never considered them.."profound"...just liked the music.
Part of "The Wall" I liked, but I thought it was over-rated. I think Waters was trying to be profound..but fell short. I never even bothered to get their last studio album (with Waters) The Final Cut. It was a Roger Waters (with guests) solo album. But I never attached any significance to their songs any more than I did to Led Zeppelin, Bee Gees, Doobie Brothers, Eagles..or any other of the bands I listened to in the 70s. And for that reason alone, I wouldn't spend another dime on a "newly remastered" (how many times do you remaster an album) CD, unless my current one was defective.

Pink Floyd was the first band I saw in concert in 1968. I loved their old stuff- Saucerful Of Secrets, Umma Gumma & Meddle are favorites. Lost interst when Dark Side came out. Thought they went commercial. I did like The Wall. Lots of good songs. Mother is my favorite.

Floyd toured with a quad sound system in 1970. Pretty amazing stuff, especially if a little buzzed.
