I always deferred to Noily-Pratt. Never used much vermouth, mostly in recipes.

N-P is good, and I use it as a cooking wine frequently. Vermouth as an apperitive is pretty good, it also closes the meal well.

I like sweet red, it's similar to marsala, I believe. I haven't had it straight up in a coons age, but I went through a lot of Manhattan cocktails a while back. Wild turkey makes a good drink.

red vermouth + campari + rye = good (1/3 each)

with sweet vermouth it is a boulvardier

with dry vermouth it is an old pal

M & Ms (Martinis and Manhattans) are my all time favorite cocktails.
Martini and Rossi vermouths are a good value balancing price and quality IMO.

I believe they also produce Noily-Pratt.

there is some superb Vermouth from Spain and some stunning American vermouths. Not always easy to find, but they do make a good drink. I think I may hit the Vermouth a bit harder this October in Espana.

I enjoy a couple of bottles of M&R red vermouth a year, great refreshing drink on ice for the price.
