Have you ever . . .

. . . had a cigar that tasted so bad, that not only did you toss it (with extreme violence), it made the cigar you lit to replace it taste bad too?

Yes. In fact, if I have a cigar that bad, I generally either cleanse my palate with lighter fluid (or something similar) before I smoke anything else.

Had a few of those. Bought a box of something or other from Thompson's back in '99 or so. The price should have been my first warning. The second was when the coloring from the "maduro" wrapper rubbed off on my fingers. I think those went in the compost and I wrote it off to experience gained.

I won a five pack of Diesel on Cigarbid around that time. I was trying everything with a low price. I know some people like Diesels. I did not. I think I described them as tasting like they had been dipped in used motor oil.

I had to smoke two Punch Roth X to get the taste out of my mouth.

Two Double Bourbon helped.

I smoked a cigar once - got from cigarbid or CI... was supposed to be 'red wine infused' wrapper. The wrapper was red, the cigar was vile. 3 puffs. Even the room smoke was vile. Thankfully I was in a bar with decent ventilation. Put it out in a glass of water. Drank seltzer with lime, a coors light, then makers mark neat. The whiskey tasted fine so I lit up another - at the time I was into the perdomo lot23's.

The rest of the 5 pack of those awful things went into the trash the second I got home.

Yes I have had that experience. I smoke a Mario Andrette cigar. When I got the cello off I noticed it had little tobacco patches on it. I guess to cover up some beetle holes. Anyway it was so bad I threw it in the lake I was fishing at I'm sure Mario just lent his name to this cigar for some kind of payout.

I've had that happen two or three times. I can't remember what cigar(s) it happened with, but the cigar(s) was something I usually smoke. It just happened to be a bad cigar.

I rarely toss a cigar once it's lit. So if I try something and I don't really like it, I'll still finish it. Sometimes they get better. Sometimes they don't. But rarely have I had a cigar that was so awful that I couldn't finish it.
