I have never had any luck. They won't stay lit. Couple thoughts.

Matches seemed to work a hell of a lot better than a lighter! is this right?

I tried five or six ways to try and get a good shine. I had years ago stripped the finish and stain from them, and cleaned them with methanol this week. I can't get a shine! I have power buffed with white jewelers rouge. 00000 steel wool. An old finishing wax that I made with beeswax and carnauba. other furniture waxes. I get a matte, unfinished look, as if the briar itself is refusing to shine up. The stuff should be nearly glass smooth, and it looks like unfinished ceramic-clean, smooth, reflective, but not glossy. Thoughts?
