Jimmy Vincent-Longtime drummer for Louis Prima passed away y

Jimmy Vincent was the legendary long time drummer of Louis Prima's who created the mold for all who would follow. Louis would always sing his name at the beginning of "Sing, Sing, Sing" as he did on the classic Majestic recording…
"Jimmy Vincent…Jimmy Vin-Cent!!!"
Originally born James Faraci, he was like Louis Prima’s little Italian brother. They played golf together, had great fun together, and created some of the most important music of all time together. Louis and Jimmy have been reunited and are together again making beautiful music today.

Glad I got to spend a weekend with him at his daughter's house in San Diego last year..It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity hanging out with a true legend! Very sad day for me

James Vincent Faraci-June 30,1923 - April 15,2005 R.I.P.

That's a drag. I've been a Prima fan for years. My parents lived in the French Quarter in the 50s & 60s and knew Louis in passing. Dad spent many nights at his club on Bourbon St. and was friendly with Louis' saxophonist Sam Butera. Every chance I get I go see Sam play - he still does the whole Prima act and he's in his 80s. It's tragic when we lose one of these guys. I will go pour myself a stiff drink and smoke a fine habano for Jimmy.

Sorry to hear about your buddy Keith... If your not gonna make it out to the funeral... Might be a nice gesture to send a flower arrangement...

Sam just officially retired a few months ago according to his website.

Thanks Ed...That's a great tribute...WHen I was visiting him for the weekend, I gave him a Monte 4...He loved it!!

I was going to send a card to his widow and daughter...I will probably send an arrangement if I find out where the services will be.

To the mod who copied this into the Smokin Tunes room, THANKS!!

I refute this claim. Certain people are immortal, they should never be taken from us.
