Did I just ruined my new humidor?

Hi,

I received recently my first real humidor and started to preparate it for use.

First I moistened it by wiping it's inner walls with moistured cloth, then I put glass of bit warmed water to humidor and closed the lid (like many guides suggests).

After few hours something awful happened: I noticed that the lid of humidor box wasn't any more perfectly sealed. There were visible gap between lid part and bottom of the box.

I opened the box and checked inside. There were some condensated water around the humidor and huminidy were about 80%.

Then I noticed that lid didn't close tightly any more I think it's warped bit.

So my question is did I do something really wrong? Was the use of water glass too strong for moistening and that caused wood in the lid to bend?

Or is this normal and when humidor 'settle down', it will again be tight?
