Bands that Tune to Eb, and their Guitars
There are a number of artists, including Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughn, who tune their guitars to E♭ instead of E. This is usually because they play a Fender Strat, which has a scale length of 25.5" - 3/4" longer than a Les Paul. In terms of string tension, a Les Paul is like an E♭ Strat capoed at the 1st fret.
I was listening to some old Kiss tunes the other day, and I was surprised to notice that they also tuned down to E♭, despite the fact that they were playing Les Pauls. So, who else do you know of who tunes to E♭, what kind of guitar do they use, and what is the scale length of their guitar? |
