Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobramesa Cervantes Fino

Steve Saka recently listed this cigar as his favorite of all the DT&T vitolae he has produced so far, and I found them on sale at a local B&M today so I decided to see what all the fuss was about. A beautiful dark wrapper like all the Sobramesas, it is smooth and a bit oily with light tobacco notes from the wrapper and foot. The bunch is firm and the cold draw is just the tight side of perfect (I imagine it will open up like similar cigars when lit). Tonight's beverage is a Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout.

After purging the butane flavors out, the cigar presents a medium profile including cedar and medium tobacco notes with a light white pepper note in the retrohale. It is burning even and the ash is medium grey and firm. The construction is excellent. The ash fell on me just as I was getting to the first third.

The first third is a flavorful experience with cocoa notes adding to the cedar and tobacco. There is also a light white pepper note in the retrohale. The burn continues to be even and the ash looks like it will drop at intervals.

During the second third the cocoa notes have built. There are still cedar and tobacco notes and the white pepper notes are holding firm. Still an even burn and a mostly solid ash. The draw remains a bit tight but I am getting lots of flavorful smoke.

Approaching the final inch the cigar is heating up a bit but not so much that a quick purge cools it back down. The complexity is very good and the overall flavors continue to be excellent. Only having to put it down at one inch when it gets too hot to hold. Overall this cigar earns 9.25/10. Joe Bob says check it out.
