Another old timer
This French Briar pipe cleaned up really well. The main problem, and the reason I don't buy many capped pipes, is that the rim was very dinged up. I removed the cap and used a flat end punch to press the dings out as best I could. Then Used a small stick of wood to press and tap it flat. I did this with a piece of wood underneath the cap. The results aren't great, but are still much, much better than it was.
The stem is amber colored Bakelite. Good thing as Bakelite holds up much better over time than amber. It's got to be 1910-1920. |
