SG Navy Flake
I smoked 5 month aged SG Navy Flake this evening. This flake tobacco is from bulk so this is a long flake. I folded and stuffed it in a Nording bent bulldog. The entire flake fit well in this pipe. The tobacco is a Virginia and Latakia blend, with a hint of rum added. Flavors started off bold, earthy and spicy. As I eased up on the draw, sweet flavors of figs, and sweet Virginia tobaccos hit the palate. Smoking this tobacco slow brings out the best flavors this tobacco has to offer. This batch is different from past Navy Flake in that it is dryer. I dried it out only 30 minutes and it was ready to smoke. In the past, I had to dry it out 2 hours. So I am happy SG is packaging this tobacco dryer rather then very wet as they did in the past. Bottom line is this tobacco is outstanding.
