As I've whined about many times before, I hate bitterness in a cigar. Lately I've begun to wonder if what I call bitterness is what others call spice.

I've had only a few smokes I thought had "spice" which I define as a complex slightly twangy taste to the smoke but not on the tongue.

Bitterness to me is a bitter taste left on the tongue.

Lately I've been reading comments about "long spicy finish" which to me would mean a lasting taste on the tongue. Most of the time that to me is bitterness. Rarely is it woody or leathery, and it is never spicy.

I prefer my smokes without a long lasting taste left on the tongue. But I do like the smoke to be medium-heavy with lot's of flavor/aroma in it.

So what do you think? Am I nuts? (OK, that's debatable

so let's limit the answers to that question to the topic.) Is what you call spice what I call bitter?
